DESCRIPTION
CUSTODIAN III/GROUNDSMAN
GRASS CUTTING CREW
POSITION TITLE: Custodian III/Groundsman (Grass Cutting Crew)
JOB
DESCRIPTION:
As provided by West Virginia Code §18A-4-8, “A person employed to keep buildings clean and free of refuse, to operate the heating and cooling systems, and to make minor repairs,” and “to perform duties that relate to the appearance, repair and general care of school grounds in a school system....”
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required
REPORTS TO: Maintenance Director
DUTIES:
1. Maintain school buildings, including exterior and surrounding grounds
2. Clean hallways and other school areas when needed
3. Work with the Crew Leader, under the direction of the Maintenance Director
4. Perform minor maintenance to buildings
5. Attend grounds as directed--clean walks, remove trash, cut grass, trim hedges, pull weeds, etc.
6. Clean windows when needed or according to
established schedule
7. Check all doors and windows prior to leaving the school, making sure they are locked and secured properly
8. Observe established work hours, and comply with all policies and regulations related to the job
9. Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
10. Adhere to recognized safety procedures
11.
Properly maintain and operate required equipment in a safe manner
SALARY: Pay Grade C
