Applicants to all professional positions at Mingo Central Comprehensive High School and Tug Valley High School will be expected to apply technology in order to enhance productivity and to maximize student learning. In addition, applicants may be required to become credentialed to teach Advanced Placement Courses. The teaching of honors/dual credit classes may also be required.

 

If no applicant holding the required certification applies for a position, consideration will be given to the applicant who is willing to commit to a permit in the required certification area.

 

Applicants for teaching positions shall be required to complete a "Bid Sheet" and submit it to the Human Resources Office by 4:00 p.m., June 30, 2014. JOB DESCRIPTION

DIAGNOSTICIAN/CASE MANAGER

 

POSITION TITLE: Diagnostician/Case Manager

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. WV teaching certification in Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorders, Mental Impairment and Autism

2. Masters Degree

3. Knowledge of federal and state laws and policies pertaining to Special Education

4. Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational abilities

5. Excellent oral and written communication skills

6. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, staff, parents, principals, and the public

7. Ability, knowledge and skills to execute the responsibilities of the position

 

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education

 

JOB GOAL: To provide leadership and support in the area of diagnostic services

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for comprehensive diagnostic evaluations of students referred for initial evaluation and triennial assessments as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and coordinate any/all evaluations warranted to determine student needs.

2. Complete all reporting procedures accurately and on time

3. Effectively follow the county and state mandates for evaluation and eligibility determination of prospective and present students following the adopted due process procedures

4. Determine appropriate testing instruments, observations and inventories warranted in each diagnostic case

5. Provide consultation to assigned schools in the areas of student assistance team, due process, on-going program design, scheduling and implementation, assist with regular education monitoring, parent conferences and other assigned duties delegated by the Director of Special Education

6. Willing to present or help present effective inservice programs or continuing education programs for both in-house professionals and the general population, regarding current trends and methodology in areas of diagnosis, placement, and planning educational goals and objectives

7. Provide guidance, direction and support to professionals in all areas of specialized curriculum, diversified strategies, Support for Personalized Learning (SPL), Response to Intervention (RTI) and I.E.P. development.

8. Establish a thorough and efficient work schedule for each school and with each building administrative

9. Attend all IEPCs for assigned cases after consultation with the assigned psychologist and with approval of the Director of Special Education

10. Work with parents, teachers and other professionals in the development of IEPs

11. Submit written schedule and itinerary week to Director of Special Education

12. Submit travel on a monthly basis

13. Comply with timeline mandates contained within state/federal policies, use positive means to advocate for students through documentation per student, and maintain organizational skills relevant to case management

14. Cooperate effectively with county office special education staff with regard to rendering diagnostic services

15. Obtain and interpret all available data as required to make knowledgeable decisions

16. Evaluate enrollment trends and facility trends

17. Make recommendations based on trends to the Director of Special Education

18. Be prompt on schedule with the schools as set by Director of Special Education

19. Schedule appointments with staff or parents without unnecessary delay

20. Maintain a continuous liaison with administrator, teachers, parents, and other staff professionals

21. Maintain professional attitude with all students, teachers, and administrators

22. Follow directives and report pertinent problems to supervisors or other appropriate staff

23. Maintain standards of confidentiality in appropriate setting with appropriate personnel only

24. Implement procedural safeguards pertaining to confidentiality

25. Cooperates, supports and shares information with other central office and school personnel

26. Maintain good attendance habits.

27. Display understanding and acceptance of student individual differences

28. Attend training sessions and conferences as assigned by Director of Special Education

29. Belong to appropriate advisory boards, professional organizations and associations.

30. Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as required by the Superintendent and/or the Director of Special Education

 

 

EMPLOYMENT TERM: 240 days

 

SALARY: Based on degree level and experience in accordance with the Mingo County Board of Education Salary Schedule
